GED Test
The GED Test is a test that is developed for individual’s who did not finish high-school or receive their diploma. The test is based on 12th grade level criteria, or equal to what a high-school education’s academic standards. There are five main subjects that the GED test includes: Reading, Math, Language arts (Writing), Science, and Social Studies.
Reading- The reading component of the test focuses on answering questions related to comprehension of literature, business documents, and non-fiction prose. The reading part of the test takes a little over an hour to complete.
Writing- There are two parts of the writing component of the GED test. The multiple choice questions are based on organization, mechanics, usage, sentence structure, and correcting and editing. The second part of the test is an essay. Where test takers are given a question and must answer in essay format. Both parts of the test should last around an 1 ½.
Mathematics- There are also two parts of the math component of the GED. The one part allows the usage of calculators, and the second prohibits the use of calculators. Both sections include Geometry, Algebra, statistics, data, and probability.
Science- The Science component is comprised of Earth Science, Physical Science, Space Science, and Life Science. It lasts about 75 minutes.
Social Studies- The Social Studies section of the GED Test contains Civics, History, Geography, Government, and World History. This part takes 70 minutes to complete.
