FCAT
The FCAT Test is a test given to students in Florida that are attending school from grades 3-11. It was established by the Florida State Board of Education for the purpose of increasing student success and achievements and improve the standards of academics. This test is founded upon the (SSS) Sunshine State Standards, and is composed of two essential components. First component is CRTs which are criterion reference tests, and the second is NRTs which are normal reference tests.
Criterion reference tests – This component of the test assesses the basic courses given in education such as Mathematics, Writing, Reading, and Science. FCAT practice requires focus on these areas.
Normal reference tests- This component is based on Reading, and Mathematics, and is used in comparison to the normal standards of education with performance.
Basic Components of the FCAT Test
The FCAT test is taken and given within the school in Florida and during the hours that children are already attending them. It also requires no registration, and is comprised of no fees. In the springtime the Science, Reading, and Math Components are given in the duration of 2 weeks, and in late winter about February the Writing part is taken by the students. The NRTs and CRTs are given at the same time, however not to all grade levels at the same time, instead they are alternated amongst the different grade levels.

Self-Assessment Practice Tests:
The FCAT test evaluates and assesses the level of writing, reading, math, and science skills that a student has acquired. Students from various grade levels are tested upon the standards that are stipulated for those grades in reading comprehension, mathematical configuring and problem solving, organization and convention in writing, and scientific thinking. The questions are compiled in all formats including: multiple choice, essay questions, gridded response questions, and persuasive, narrative, and expository essays.
Every distinctive component of the FCAT test is scored alternately, and the scoring scales range from manual scoring to automated scoring. This information can be found in detail through the FCAT website. Most Florida schools prepare the children adequately for this test and encourage them to do the best according to their abilities. It is also important to pass these series of tests in order to graduate from school and receive a high school diploma. The students will be required to take it throughout each of their grades so they will complete a total of 8 tests before they graduate school.
