CLEP
CLEP exams cover material that is taught in courses that students take as requirements in the first two years of college. A college will typically grant the same amount of credit to students earning a satisfactory score on the CLEP examination as it directly counts as completion of that course. Many exams are designed to work with one semester course and others correspond to full year or two year courses. Unless the exam specifically states otherwise, it is intended to cover a one semester course. Each exam is usually ninety minutes long and made up of multiple choice questions. The exception to this rule is usually English Composition with Essay.
Basic Components of the CLEP Exam
CLEP exams usually save time and avoid unnecessary tuition costs by cutting out these introductory college courses. The College Board developed CLEP exams that allow students to get credit without taking classes. The College-Level Examination Programs is a good solution to a large problem facing students today – how to get what they need out of college without wasting time and money. CLEP exams are offered for thirty-four subject areas in anywhere from Biology to Accounting from Freshman College Composition to Calculus.
Three thousand institutions of higher education accept CLEP scores in place of coursework. Most exams will substitute at least three credit hours. This is a good option for students of all kind including people who want to: avoid redundant courses, enhance their resume, foreign students who want to prove expertise in a subject, and members of the military who want to get a college degree while overseas. The CLEP exam allow skilled individuals to obtain credit for what they know, they free up time and money for important things like keeping a job, raising a family, or pursuing more advanced coursework in college.

Self-Assessment Practice Tests:
The CLEP uses a scoring system that makes it easy to coordinate scores with a college or university. Immediately after the exam is completed, an unofficial score report with a detailed summary of performances on all aspects of the exam except for essays, which must be graded separately. Scores can be sent to any school, employer, or agency free of charge. There is no rush to designate a recipient. CLEP administrators will finalize the scores and compile them into a transcript which is available for twenty years. Copies can be requested at any time. CLEP exams are a great way to expedite getting a college degree and to free up time for other things in life.
