ASWB Exam
The ASWB exam is a test utilized to certify social workers. It is presented by the Association of Social Work Boards. This organization is geared to regulate and govern social workers. They also maintain and design the examinations and licensing programs. They are a major contributor in providing the resources for student education for social workers and active social workers. Any information that is needed in regards to social work is available through the ASWB, and they are the ones that supply social work licensing with taking the test. However, the same people that give the ACT test administer the ASWB exam.
The ASWB is one of a series of four exams in which different fields of social work are required to take. Some genres of social work do not mandate that all of them be taken, however it is ultimately dependent upon the type of social work that one is planning on entering into. It is used to prove that one has the skills and knowledge necessary to persevere in the social work industry. It is important to know that different government factors and jurisdictions dictate what tests are appropriate and which licensing needs to be obtained in order to practice in a particular category of social work.
Basic Components of the ASWB Test
The ASWB tests is a multiple question exam, and it contains a total of 170 questions. These are broken down into 11 parts that make up the entire test. Twenty of the questions are not included in the initial scoring. Here are the 11 topics covered in the exam: Issues of diversity, human development and behavior, psychotherapy and clinical practice, diagnosis and assessment, therapeutic relationships, communication, service delivery, practice evaluation and the application of research, clinical practice and management, clinical supervision-consultation-staff development, and professional values and ethics.

Self-Assessment Practice Tests:
The ASWB is scored based upon the number of correct answers to the questions. The standards of passing may vary dependent on the decree of what is established by varying jurisdictions. In order to even be eligible to take this exam, and individual must already possess a masters degree from a relevant social work school or program. Also an individual must have at a minimal 2 years of experience in the social work industry. In addition, it is important that an individual needing to take this test register with the ASWB and pay the initial 175 dollar fee to ensure they may take the test at a local ACT testing center.
